Norcross, GA - DataLase, originator of the award winning DataLase process, announces that Symington's Ltd. have been conducting trials with the innovative new DataLase CASEMARK Tape imaging station for outer case identification of dried food. With the powerful imaging station, Symington's Ltd. can produce superior quality barcodes while freeing the company's workforce from the time-consuming process of having to pre-print and manually apply self-adhesive labels to packaging.

Headquartered in Leeds, UK, Symington's Ltd. is a leading producer of dried food. Traditionally, the company used self-adhesive labels for outer case identification. As well as being particularly labor-intensive due to manually applying the label to the outer case packaging, this solution also incurred significant costs due to the continuous stop/starting of the production line.

The DataLase CASEMARK Tape imaging station has enabled Symington's Ltd. to apply a tape directly to the corrugated outer packaging and image the barcodes on it. This solution provides an all in one quick and easy step, without needing to stop and start the production line while producing high quality, consistent barcodes. In total, the imaging station has increased the company's productivity while ensuring considerable labor savings as well as time savings of up to 40 minutes per line per day. The DataLase CASEMARK Tape imaging system requires no inks or ribbons and there is no label liner to dispose of and thermal heads to change. As a result of these benefits, the imaging station has provided Symington's Ltd. with substantial savings on consumable usage, downtime and waste.

DataLase is currently looking at further developments for the imaging station in order to meet customer requirements including combining the product with a box sealer for even greater time savings.

Keith Williams, Chief Engineer at Symington's Ltd., comments: "During this trial period, the DataLase CASEMARK Tape imaging station has demonstrated time, labor and cost benefits. We look forward to working with Datalase on any new projects that will help us enjoy even greater benefits in the future."
