Campbell And Keurig Are Making Hot Soup Faster Than Ever

Fresh-brewed K-Cups will make hot soup ready in a matter of minutes
A collaboration between Campbell Soup Company and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters has spawned a new product for single-cup Keurig brewers — Campbell’s Fresh-Brewed Soup K-Cup. The duo’s goal was to be able to supply hot Campbell’s soup with the convenience of brewing coffee with a Keurig.
Here is how the process will work: Broth will be held in a K-Cup that will be brewed just like coffee in the Keurig machine. The water will strain through the K-Cup and then fall into a mug filled with the included packet of dry pasta and vegetable blend. This gives consumers a quick, hot snack that can be enjoyed in the office or at home in a matter of minutes. Keurig lent their knowledge to Campbell, and with their expertise, were able to create a package that sealed the peak flavor of the broth until brewed when the consumer can enjoy an authentically fresh cup of soup.
Campbell and Keurig are both companies that hold great value in and strive for innovation. This shared mentality made the companies the perfect partners to position themselves in an ever-changing market. Campbell remains an iconic and respected brand, while Keurig has earned trust amongst consumers as its existing product line has already proven successful in the last five years. Consumers everywhere from kitchens to offices enjoy fresh coffee brewed by a Keurig.
The new product from the partnership puts the companies on the leading edge of packaging and innovation regarding food production. Campbell’s may have been pigeonholed by their canned soups for years, but the K-Cup product offers the company an alternative packaging solution for distributing soups. The fast brewing capabilities of a Keurig allow consumers who may not have access to a stove or microwave to enjoy hot soup at the click of a button during a busy day.
The new soup K-Cups, available sometime in 2014, will be offered in three different varieties of soup – including the company’s signature item — Homestyle Chicken Broth and Noodle. Both Campbell and Keurig expect the fresh-brewed soup varieties to be sold alongside Keurig K-Cups’ existing line of coffee and hot beverages in current retail locations.
