FSMA Fridays: Migrating From HACCP To HARPC (Part Three Of Four)
Check out Part One and Part Two of this series
In the second portion of FSMA Fridays: Migrating From HACCP To HARPC, Levin and the Acheson Group panel began discussing how HARPC falls into a food-safety plan and the available tools to develop a HARPC-focused food-safety plan. Here, in part three, the panel addresses what the FDA expects to see from food-safety plans once FSMA is implemented. Additionally, the panel begins handling questions from the webcast’s live audience.
Barbara: David, let's stay with you for a couple of different questions, and then we'll open it up to the audience. We've spoken a lot over FSMA Fridays about FDA inspections. In terms of HARPC, what will the FDA expect to see when they come in once FSMA is being enforced?
David: I'm already hearing form a number of companies that we are working with is that the FDA is showing up and saying, “We want to see this, we want to see that, and we want to see the other.” They are looking at records. They are already looking into that as positive routine inspections. That's a debate for a whole other webinar at some point: just exactly how far can they go under the rubric of the Food Safety Modernization Act?
