Leading biscotti brand is revamping its packaging and reducing waste along the way
North America’s most popular biscotti brand debuted its new environmentally-friendly packaging last month. Nonni’s Foods estimates the new package will reduce waste by up to 17 percent, as 85 percent of these new packages will not have a plastic tray insert.
Nonni’s Foods’ marketing managers received feedback from consumers saying that the company’s packages were not bold enough and unless the consumer was looking for the product, went unnoticed on shelves. Consumers also stated they had a difficult time differentiating the eight varieties of biscotti Nonni’s Foods offers. The biscotti maker took this feedback and applied it to its newly designed packaging, giving customers a bright package with bold-faced type and more prominent text indicating the contents of each package.
Nonni’s was meticulous with its packaging, as each piece of biscotti is individually wrapped in order to preserve freshness and extending shelf life. This maintains product integrity while removing unneeded materials for the packaging. This is an excellent method for reducing waste and is a win-win for the consumer and the company. Being leaner and greener not only satisfies the consumers’ cry for a more environmentally friendly package, it also improves the company’s bottom line. The biscotti maker also provides eight freshness packs in each box, keeping the treats inside as fresh as they would have been if they were baked this morning.
Nonni’s Foods new biscotti packages can be found in most grocery and club retailers in the U.S. with the packages for each flavor being rolled out by selection. Flavors include Salted Caramel, Cioccolati, Decadence, Limone, Toffee Almond, Triple Chocolate, and Turtle Pecan.
