Pepsi And Kraft Expected To Be Big Players At Upcoming Packaging Show

Some of the world’s largest food manufacturers will meet with industry suppliers to talk about design and logistics in sustainable packaging solutions
Sustainability will be the hot topic at this year’s The Packaging Conference at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando, FL. Big players in food manufacturing, like PepsiCo and Kraft Foods will be in attendance Feb 3-5 listening to a keynote address from Heinz. The conference will revolve heavily around environmental issues and how becoming more sustainable will increase the number of returning customers while reaping the benefits of overhead savings. Suppliers planning to attend the conference include: TricorBraun, Hexacomb, and Belvac. Belvac execs will speak to the conference in a seminar addressing advances in can shaping and metal bottle technology. TricorBraun’s Chief Creative Officer will discuss how to become more innovative with packaging.
This year’s event will also showcase a presentation by Hexcacomb — a producer of paper-based protective packaging — about entering the Latin American market. Darlene Kober, director of global marketing and strategy for Hexacomb, will present a case study from Mexico showing how die-cut paper pads offer a much more reasonable option for transporting liquid-filled bottles. Hexacomb has found success in the Mexican market as they just opened a new manufacturing facility in central Mexico early this fall in an effort to keep up with demand. Some other companies being showcased at the conference for sustainable packaging solutions are Avantium Chemicals, offering bio-based packaging materials, and the Shelton Group. Shelton Group’s VP of research, Lee Ann Head, will be speaking about best strategies food makers to effectively communicate methods of sustainability in packaging to customers.
The conference, being hosted by Plastic Technologies Inc. and SBA-CCI, was established in 2007 and aims to bring directors from major brands together to discuss all levels of the value-chain, from technological advances to data that points to emerging markets to expand in. The conference also offers a great networking opportunity, encouraging interaction with the entire packaging supply chain in an informal setting.
